Himachal Pradesh gives boost to rail connectivity! Demand grows for Vande Bharat Express between Mumbai-Chandigarh

Vande Bharat Express, the country’s first indigenous-built semi-high speed train has become the favourite choice for travellers. This ultra modern train with more speed and world class facilities has reduced the travel time between two cities. The trains have been in operation for over four years now.

Demand for introduction of Vande Bharat Express to Himachal Pradesh’s Kalka:-

The members of Shimla Hotel and Tourism Stakeholders Association have demanded the launch of blue and white colour trains between Mumbai and Chandigarh. Once introduced, the Mumbai-Chandigarh Vande Bharat Express will cover Gujarat’s Surat and Ahmedabad.

Railway stations in Himachal Pradesh:-

At present, there are 57 railway stations in Himachal Pradesh. Few major stations in the state are – Una Himachal, Amb Andaura, Rai Maihatpur, Churaru Takrala, Chintpurni Marg, Daulatpur Chowk, Talara, Guler, Nandpur Bhatauli, Nagrota Suriyan, Harsar Dehri, Nurpur Road, Jawanala Shahr, Bharmar, Tripal, Solan, Shimla, etc.

Long distance trains from Kalka:-

To visit Shimla, the state capital, the rail passengers have to deboard at Kalka railway station. The station is 38 km from Chandigarh. Here’s a list of few long distance trains from Kalka railway station:

Kalka-Shimla train service:-

After arriving at Kalka, the passengers have to either reach the state capital by train or by road. Presently, the Northern Railway is operating 6 pairs (in both directions) of trains between Kalka and Shimla and vice versa.This heritage rail line was awarded a World Heritage Site by UNESCO on July 07, 2008. The rail route was built during British rule, to connect Shimla, the summer capital with the Indian rail system.A total of 18 railway stations are there on the historic Kalka-Shimla rail route.
